Quantum Light Cycles
A one-key game for the 2006 Retro Remakes Big Competition.
My entry to the 2006 Retro Remakes Big Competition. For that year’s competition, the organisers partnered with Barrie Ellis of OneSwitch.org.uk to make accessibility compulsory: every entry had to be fully playable with just one key or a single assistive switch.
In Quantum Light Cycles, you guide a light cycle into podules to clear each level.
The twist is that pressing SPACE turns the light cycle 90 degrees in both directions at the same time; that’s the “quantum” bit. If any of the possible paths hits a podule, the trail resolves into that single path. Paths that hit anything else vanish, and if they all vanish, it’s game over. Every turn costs a point, so choose your moments.
