Brown Cloud screenshot

Our entry to Global Game Jam 2009. You play Fujin, the King of Winds, and the aim is to build a single brown cloud by collecting and spitting out clouds of different colours from different levels of the atmosphere. A session lasts five minutes, and when all the clouds are gone, Fujin goes to sleep. The brown clouds are an obvious metaphor for pollution.

We built it on the “Kranzky Engine”, my C++ framework combining Haaf’s Game Engine, Box2D and SQLite, with Xbox 360 controller support and an online leaderboard. All the gameplay, graphics and audio were made in 48 hours.

I programmed it with Robert Barnett and Nigel Budden, with art by Simon Boxer and music by Simon Wittber.
