Git Lineage brings the time-lapse view from Perforce’s P4V to git. Drag a scrubber along a file’s timeline and watch it change, commit by commit, with every line coloured by how recently it changed and deleted lines fading out as ghosts.
It’s built for code spelunkers: developers chasing down a bug, finding their way around unfamiliar code, or working out who to ask. Instant search across the whole history, line anchoring, bookmarks and tags make it quick to find the commit that matters.
There’s no browser and no Electron. It’s a small native binary for macOS, Windows and Linux that starts instantly and stays smooth across thousands of commits. It is sold as a one-off licence, with offline licence keys and signed builds.
